INTRODUCTION 

Huchuy q’osqo Trek to Machu Picchu 3 Days 2 Nights,  is a really nice and not too challenging option that combines nature, original Inca Trails a community visit and a guided tour of the little known Inca site of Huchuy Q’osqo. Taking you off the beaten track you get away from the all the crowds of the better known treks but still get to enjoy all the amazing things Peru has to offer. The Huchuy Q’osqo trek is perfect for those with a short time frame or who are looking for an easier trekking route.

Day 1 – Cusco – Tambomachay – Qoriqocha – Huchuy Q’osqo

Pick up from your hotel at 6.30 a.m. and then we go in a private transport to the Tambomachay town of (3,700 m / 12,167 ft.), just 45 minutes from Cusco. Once we arrive, we prepare the equipment to start the hike uphill for the next 4 hours. To reach the Qoriqocha camp (4,000 m / 12,630 ft.) And enjoy a delicious Lunch prepared with the fine herbs of the field by the chef of Caminka. From there, we see extraordinary snow-capped mountains and beautiful landscapes. To then continue the walk for approximately 1 hour until reaching the highest point.

We descend towards the town of Pucamarca, where we will have free time in the Inca ruins. From there, we follow the original Inca trail to Huchuy Q’osqo (3600 m / ft.) Inca ruins. Then we go to our family home. Here, the guide will introduce us to the local family who will place us in our respective rooms. With impressive views of the surroundings and the Inca citadel. As night falls, you will enjoy your tea and then have dinner with the local family. At night, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the sky full of bright stars and see the Inca constellations.

Day 2 – Huchuy Q’osqo – Lamay – Maras – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes

After a nutritious breakfast prepared by the local family, we said goodbye to our hosts who shared their culture and customs with us. Then we will start the guided visit to the Huchuy Q’osqo archaeological complex. In this citadel we will discover incredible Inca buildings, agricultural terraces, warehouses, water channels and an Inca reservoir. After feeding ourselves with valuable information about these Inca ruins, we headed downhill to Lamay (2950 m / ft.) For 2 hours. Here our private mobility awaits our arrival to move us to Maras (Salineras) with a 1 hour journey. Here you will observe thousands of salt pools that were used for the extraction of salt since pre-Inca, Inca, and colonial times and that are still being worked by the population of Maras until today.

In the upper part of the valley it discharges a small stream of water heavily laden with salt, which is diverted to the small pools and evaporates to produce a salt with a range of quality for human consumption. Salt mines made up of some 4,000 salt wells, which are landscapes for some photographic shots. In this place we will have the guided tour for 1 hour, to continue the trip to Urubamba Colonial city where we will enjoy a buffet lunch. Then we continue our journey through the sacred valley with beautiful landscapes to Ollantaytambo, where we will board the train to Aguas Calientes. Dinner will be organized in a restaurant carefully selected by Caminka Expeditions.

Day 3 – Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes – Cusco

Today very early in the morning we will have our breakfast at the hotel. To then go to the bus station where we will board and ascend 30 minutes to the Inca citadel. At the entrance to Machu Picchu we will prepare our respective documents to make our entrance to Machu Picchu. “Magnificent” is the only word that will come to mind to describe and experience the energy and connection with nature, a scenario that you will see when you are in front of the ruins of Macchu Picchu. Located on a summit with difficult access.

Main Square, Temple of the Three Windows as well as the famous Inti Watana or Solar Clock and the Circular Tower. After the 2 to 3 hour tour of the citadel, return to Aguas Calientes for lunch that will be organized by your guide which is not included in our tourist program.

At the end of lunch our guide will say goodbye culminating with his services. Then they will have time to get to know a little more about Aguas Calientes (Machupicchu town) to finally go to the train station which will bring them back to Ollantaytambo after coordinating with your guide. A representative from Caminka Expedition will be waiting for you upon arrival at the train station in Ollantaytambo and then transfer you to the city of Cusco and drop you off at your respective hotels.
